Drac Penat is a piece composed by Ricardo Molla dedicated and commissioned by Jose Vicente Faubel, trombone member of Palau de les Arts Symphony Orchestra. This piece aims to tell the "Rat Penat" legend, an old story that describes how a bat caused King James I of Aragon to win a crucial battle against the Saracens that allowed him to win Valencia for his kingdom. This bat ultimately became a symbol of the crown in municipal arms of the former Crown of Aragon specifically in Valencia, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
